100 Cheesiest Movie Quotes of All Time. It’s sad that about 20% of these come from Arnold Schwaezenegger. Most involving bad puns. At least 10% are from Batman And Robin (for good reason). And a lot from the new Star Wars movies. But, enjoy.

I thought it already began??? O wait, you had the “…” so you weren’t done talking. You were just putting an unnecessary dramatic pause there. I get the feeling that this is going to top New Moon. And by top i mean it is going to be worse.
And why do all the actors show no emotions in their voices when they speak. It’s like they are all stoics.

→ A Live Action "Bleach" Movie in the Works?

According to this article, yes. There is. Looks like Warner isn’t just looking to expand their DC Universe, but also into the realms of Manga. Just please don’t Americanize it like it most likely will be.

So i was very skeptical of Kick-Ass, but after watching the trailer, i think it will be one of the surprise hits. And if not in the box office, it definitely can easily reach cult-status.

Shutter Island Review

Poster

In their fourth collaboration together, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese move toward a different genre than the two are typically know for. Their previous 3 films, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and The Departed are more in the two talents safety zones. But for Shutter Island, Scorsese decided to make a psychological thriller, a type of film that hasn’t been around much of late with the over population of Gornos, cheap horror “thrills”, and teen slashers. It isn’t the great Director’s finest or deepest piece (which is in my opinion either Taxi Driver or The Departed), but he knows how what it takes to make a great film, and thus, he succeeded, once again.

Many complained about how it deviated too far from it’s source material (it’s a book to movie people, we know what happens when we get a literal translation, e.g. Watchmen. And how many actually read the book, hmm…). I did not read the book so I have no comparisons to be made.

As many people know, the story revolves around U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels, who is called to Shutter Island to investigate a missing person. However as he and his partner Chuck, played by Mark Ruffalo, investigate more and more, they find that Shutter Island has more secrets that no one is willing reveal. Conspiracy soon ensues, leading Teddy to believe that he was lured into the island by those who run it, and outsiders.

The directing is overall superb. And even though i agree with some of the critics that it feels like patchwork occasionally (especially the beginning), it is overshadowed by the fantastic acting by all involved, and gorgeous cinematography, which helps create the dark, secretive facilities of the mental hospital.

The structure of the film is fairly predictable for it’s genre. It’s hard not to guess where he is going to go next. But what is done well, is the ending. I won’t give anything away, but it’s something that many of you won’t see coming. If you do, you did better than i did.

In the end, it felt like Scorsese was trying the genre on for size, which led to some uneven scenes, but the film as a whole is one of the more masterfully crafted mysteries that i have seen in a long time. It is a movie that keeps you guessing till the very end, and will have you on the edge of your seat throughout it’s duration. While far from perfect, it accomplishes what it meant to do, and it does it the best that it could.

8/10

My Thoughts on Toy Story 3…

After today’s unveiling of Toy Story 3’s newest trailer i thought that i would put in my 2 cents about what the movie is going to be like:

1) The writing will be genius, dry, and written with adults in mind (as well as kids).

Look who has penned the script: Michael Arndt. The same guy who won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for… wait for it… Little Miss Sunshine! Which is one of the best comedies I have seen in a very long time. There is a good chance that this movie will be up for an Academy Award in 2011 for it’s screenplay. You can tell by just looking at the trailer that it isn’t a “kids movie”, even though most people will label it as such.

2) This is going to be one of the top 5 grossing movies of 2010.

This is for many reasons. Most importantly, is the 3D surcharges. This is the same variable that just made Avatar the top grossing movies of all time, ousting Titanic. With the added fees of 3D along with rising ticket prices and inflation, this may also become the highest grossing animated film of all time. Another factor is that Pixar typically brings in about $250 million locally anyways… for new IPs. This being a sequel, with people knowing the characters, it will draw an even WIDER audience than an original movie typically would.

3) IT’S FREAKING TOY STORY!!!

This IS our childhood creed everyone! THE defining movie of our childhood’s and the start of a new style of animation. It also established the reputation of Pixar as the Kings of Animation, and kicked off the best track record of any production company in animation or any genre for that matter. The fact that the demand was great enough and the cast was willing to come back for a THIRD sequel (with the exception of Jim Varney, R.I.P.) is just amazing. Ghostbusters is just now able to pull this feat off. And they aren’t doing it for the money (like, say, Shrek), but because they love the universe so much. I think that is what makes Toy Story so special.

These are just initial musings over what i think will come about from this movie. But more are sure to come!
